Gytis Oganauskas, Deputy General Director of LRT, had the following to say:
“Monika Liu, who sang in Lithuanian at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, and Kalush Orchestra, who won the contest, showed that a song performed in one’s native language is not an obstacle to winning the hearts of viewers all over Europe. In the 2023 selection, we will hear works performed in both Lithuanian and English languages, from both experienced performers and new artists.
I think that this year’s list of participants is very promising. It will be possible to create meaningful entertainment for winter evenings, and to send a representative of Lithuania to the great Eurovision, which we will be proud of again.”
