Back in FEBRUARY, S4C, the Welsh national broadcaster confirmed that they would not be returning for the 2022 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, in Yerevan, Armenia. A spokesperson for S4C, has now given the following statement:
“Despite enjoying our old participations in Junior Eurovision, we will not be present in this edition of the festival for many reasons. We are, however, open to joining the competition again in the future.”
While the Coronavirus pandemic was the given reason in 2020 & 2021, the statement giving ‘many reasons’ doesn’t make the Welsh absence in Yerevan any clearer. However, the BBC announced earlier this year their intention in returning the United Kingdom back to the Contest next year – however the success in Turin could see a return in Yerevan instead, therefore not allowing a Welsh participation to take place.
