
During the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, Sam Ryder secured the United Kingdom a record sixteenth second placing. The last time the United Kingdom reached this position was in 1998, one year after their last victory. Today we continue to look back at the second placings.
1965
Kathy Kirby took part in the 1965 Eurovision Song Contest, in Naples, Italy. She scored 26 points with “I Belong”.
1968
Cliff Richard took part in the 1968 Eurovision Song Contest, in London, the United Kingdom. He scored 28 points with “Congratulations”.
1970
Mary Hopkin took part in the 1970 Eurovision Song Contest, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She scored 26 points with “Knock, Knock Who’s There?”.
1972
The New Seekers took part in the 1972 Eurovision Song Contest, in Edinburgh, the United Kingdom. They scored 114 points with “Beg, Steal or Borrow”.
