First there were seventeen, before eleven handed in a bid book. Now only five cities remain in the race to become Host City for the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest. They are:

• Bologna
• Milan
• Pesaro
• Rimini
• Turin

Representatives from RAI, the Italian national broadcaster, have started to visit each city to make their final assessments. A decision on the Host City should be made by the end of this month (August) or at the beginning of September – so potentially next week.
