
Over the course of April and May, on the lead up to the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest, we will be celebrating the countries that are participating this year in Rotterdam. Today, we celebrate Greece.
Greece debuted at the Contest in 1974, in Brighton, the United Kingdom. Marinella finished in eleventh place in, with her entry “Krasi, Thalassa Ke T’ Agori Mou”, scoring 7 points.
The most successful entry from Greece was in 2005, when the Contest took place in Kyiv, Ukraine, Helena Paparizou finished in first place with her entry “My Number One”, scoring 230 points. This included ten sets of twelve points from Albania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Germany, Hungary, Serbia & Montenegro, Sweden, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
The most recent Greek entry was due to be in 2020, when the cancelled Contest was due to take place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Stefania was due to represent Greece with her entry “Supergirl”.
This year, Greece will be represented by Stefania with her song “Last Dance”. Will Stefania take Greece to their second victory?
