SWEDEN: Melodifestivalen 2020 participants announced
Sweden’s broadcaster SVT has revealed the 28 lucky acts vying for a ticket to Rotterdam next May. For many (though not all), Melodifestivalen is one of the highlights of the national final season.
A number of returning acts have won the golden ticket before. So if you’re a fan of Robin Bengtsson, Anna Bergendahl, Victor Crone and Nanne Grönvall, you’re in luck. Victor represented Estonia in Tel Aviv, but has switched to his home nation for 2020.
Many more have trod the MF boards before without winning the thing, among that are Albin Johnsén, Thorsten Flinck and Linda Bengtzing.
Many familiar names are also back as writers. The titan that is Thomas G:son has written or co-written four songs. Robin Stjernberg and Bobby Ljunggren might feature in the big final shake-up too.
As ever, Melodifestivalen will consist of four semi-finals, a second chance round, and a big final. The dates and venues are:
1 February – Linköping (SF1)
8 February – Göteborg (SF2)
15 February – Luleå (SF3)
22 February – Malmö (SF4)
29 February – Eskilstuna (Andra chansen)
7 March – Stockholm (Final)
Are you happy with SVT’s 28 choices? Is there that one act you would love to see in Rotterdam? Will a former MF winner make it again? Tell us what you think.
