BIRTHDAY: Patrick Juvet from Switzerland is 69 today

As we all know, fans of our favourite TV show sometimes see big international stars before they really make it. We can pinpoint when your average singer got their first taste of the big stage and never looked back.

Back in 1973, today’s birthday boy Patrick Juvet was a young singer trying to make his way in the world. He found himself on a stage in Luxembourg singing for his native Switzerland about getting married. While many songs are about love, being so set on getting hitched is unusual. Maybe he’d played the field already and just wanted to settle down to slippers, a beagle and reading the Sunday papers smoking a nice pipe. We all have to dream. Of course, in 1973, everyone got a score off everyone else. A minimum of two points, a maximum of 10. He didn’t get any 10s, but got one of the other and load of points in the middle. Patrick is still around singing his heart out some 46 years later. So Eurovision wan’t such a bad thing for him.
