The turmoil in the aftermath of Vidbir 2019 has reached a its climax today – with Ukraine withdrawing from Eurovision 2019
After Maruv won the national selection but couldn’t agree on the terms of her contract with national broadcaster UA:PBC, the ticket to Tel Aviv was offered to both Kazka and Freedom Jazz as runners up of the selection. Both of them declined the offer. As they seem unable to find anyone willing to represent Ukraine in Tel Aviv, the broadcaster will no longer be taking part – but it seems for now that they will at least still broadcast the shows in May.

This brings the number of participating countries in Israel to 41, with Bulgaria and now Ukraine not taking part.
