The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union have set a date for the inaugural ABU Song Contest. The Contest will take place in Qingdao, China, between 16-20 October – with CCTV as host broadcaster.
The Contest has become a reality after discussions at the ABU General Assembly in Turkmenistan. This will be the first ABU competitive Contest after the TV and Radio Song Festivals – both of which will continue in Tokyo (November) and New Delhi (September) respectively.
News of the Contest comes after the rumoured launch of the EBU’s Eurovision Asia Song Contest in December 2019. Official confirmation for the EBU competition is expected in or around January.
