On Saturday 03rd May in 1997, the United Kingdom won for the final time. It also marked the last time Ireland hosted the contest – that year in the Point Theatre in Dublin.
Katrina and the Waves took victory in 1997 with the song “Love Shine A Light”. Katrina and the Waves took victory with 227 points, their closest rival been Ireland who finished on 157 points. At the time, 227 points was the best score achieved at any contest. Can Lucie Jones emulate the success of Katrina and the Waves on Saturday 13th May this year with “Not Give Up On You” – only time will tell.
