Thanks to our friends at Eurovisionary, we have heard that Danish broadcaster (DR) has announced further details on Eurovision 2014. In the build up to the show they are certainly getting their “A-Team” in place for the event.
Claus Zier has been announced as the stage director for Eurovision 2014. Stage Directors are responsible for creating the visual themes to the show.
Claus Zier comes to Eurovision with vast experience that includes his as he has worked on X-factor, The Voice, Strictly Come Dancing and the Danish national final, Dansk Melodi Grand Prix.
Ppeaking to DR (Danish Broadcaster)
“I couldn’t believe it when I was asked to do the set design for the Eurovision Song Contest. For several days I went around knocking my hand in the table and pinching myself in the arm. It is a dream and I am superproud“.
Eurovision 2014 will be staged in the “B & W hallerne”, which is an old industrial park on the Copenhagen Harbor – see here . Zier relishes the job in hand for him saying “It is a challenge to create a dynamic and modern show in those old halls. We will therefore first focus on the history and the physical frames and then slowly move into something more abstract. It will be a visually amazing show“.
DR are determined to make a professional and creative statement with their production of Eurovision 2014. “The Scenography should be so strong that one is not in doubt that it is the same show, even though there will be different expressions for each participating country. We have a fantastic height which we have to use and we need to get magic into this room. We will manage” said Zier
When will work begin on creating “Eurovision Island” as it has been named? Hopefully soon
