Hungary made a welcome return to the Top 10 at Eurovision 2013 with Byealex performing the über cool “Kedvesem”. Votes at Eurovision is just one sign of how popular your song is in your home country and abroad.

With multiple videos of Byealex’s “Kedvesem” at Eurovision on-line, it is into the millions that the song has been viewed on YouTube. But it is always good to be watched in your local country and that is what has happened.

Byealex comes into the Hungarian Top 30 YouTube chart for 2013 at #14 with 573,927 hits locally. This is an astonishing figure when you see that those videos above him have been on release for a longer period of time and have had vast marketing campaigns backing them.

What is very interesting is the domination of hip-hop in the Hungarian YouTube charts from local artists. It makes you wonder why we have not seen a Hungarian hip-hop act at Eurovision. “Who See” from Montenegro proved that Hip-Hop is certainly popular with the public – where they placed 4th in their semi final tele-vote – yet the jury vote was vastly out of sync with mass appeal.

Again it is a positive sign to see that acts like Byealex have a strong following after the Eurovision contest itself. A lesson to all those artists out there pondering over entering Eurovision. “Just Do It.”
