Earlier today we reported that DR had announced alternatives to Parken Stadium that were part of the Copenhagen bid for Host City for Eurovision 2014 – things change literally by the hour. DR now say “Bella Center and Ballerup Super Arena, which has previously been mentioned as possibilities are thus not included in the proposal.” So where have Copenhagen said their bids are based?

Well they have Parken, DR. Byen and the  B & W halls – are the three bids from Copenhagen NOW.

We all know Parken from 2001 but let us look at B&W Halls and DR Byen.

B&W Halls

According to DR they have received a proposal from the old B & W buildings on Refshaleøen on Amager.  “B & W halls is a pure playground for the culture and leisure industry. There is a ‘clean venue’, with its raw and industrial look which can be tailored exactly as needed. The area did recently host the Copenhell music festival” writes Wonderful Copenhagen. So this means a tent/temporary structure would be erected to host Eurovision 2014.

DR Byen

This proposed venue is based on the vacant plot of land beside DR Byen where a huge tent would be erected to host Europe’s favorite TV show. Wonderful Copenhagen writes of the advantages of this site “By holding ESC 2014, DR Byen can propose numerous practical advantages relative to equipment, logistics, transport, planning and availability.” Here is the proposed site – now as all good estate agents would say – “Look Beyond the decor and see the potential”.

So Eurovision could be one huge “Circus” tent this year! Only time will tell. Herning and Horsens must now feel like their chances of hosting Eurovision 2014 have just increased. If it is one of the options of the giant tents in Copenhagen, then one can assume that there would be more standing tickets at Eurovision 2014 than in 2013.
