Copenhagen is one of the 4 cities that have made a proposal to host Eurovision 2014. It was seen that the Parken Stadium – the site of Eurovision 2001 – would be the venue. Well according to Danish Broadcaster DR – Copenhagen have placed 3 proposal venues for Eurovision 2014. So what are they?

According to Director Lars Bernhard Jørgensen “We have given much thought to make the event (Eurovision 2014) unique. It should not just be another Grand Prix in a row” .

2 further venues have been proposed and they are “Bella Center” and “Ballerup Super Arena” as alternatives to Parken Stadium.

Ideally located close to Copenhagen Airport and on the rail/tram network. Here is the official website for the venue with a video of the interior and exterior of the venue. We are liking this venue for sure! They have already hosted the MTV European Music Awards so Eurovision would be no problem!

We love their motto which is very Eurovision like

The stadium has a capacity of 9,200 for concerts and was constructed in 2001. It is known for its roof collapsing in 2003 due to miscalculations in its design – which have been rectified with fortified cables – phew! Could this be a venue for Eurovision 2014?

Criticism of Parken

The contest in Parken in 2001 was criticized for the sound within the stadium and the sheer size of the arena. Jens Erik Moller – Danish Eurovision fan has written “And then there’s something else to remember. True, the Grand Prix interest increased slightly in Denmark after the victory in Malmö, but can you sell three times 38,000 tickets plus rehearsals? I doubt it, and there is nothing worse than half-empty stands for a Grand Prix.”

Eurovision Song Contest 2014 takes place 13th, 15th and 17May. The EBU are requesting that DR has selected a host city in the early autumn.

Where do you think it will be now?
