So what did you do on Eurovision Night Last Saturday? Well according to UK sales figures you stayed in and ate your way through a mountain of European food from Italian Meatballs, to Chicken Kiev and then some Danish Pastries! Yes Uk food retailer Waitorse saw profits soar for the Eurovision Season.

It saw sales of Danish pastries rise 17.5 per cent, meatballs by 31 per cent and chicken kievs by 45 per cent in the Eurovision week to the 18th of May. Overall revenues through Waitrose’s tills rose 9.4 per cent to £115.3 million

The supermarket said the rise was because “more Britons stayed in for Eurovision” which was one by the Danish Sweet Treat of  Emmelie de Forest. Meanwhile in the arena the food ran out before the show began at the vendors and there wasn’t a Danish Pastry in sight – only Hotdogs or Frankfurters. The assembled Eurovision audience loved them – more so than Cascada! Harsh!
