The votes from the public are in for the semifinal that took place in Lithuania last night and it makes for some interesting reading. Before I try and dissect what the Lithuanian Public saw live compared to what I viewed on-line, here are the results of the public vote

As you can see we disagreed considerably and you have to ask yourself why is that? It always seems that in Lithuania you have to earn your stripes before you can go to Eurovision and represent Lithuania. What do I mean by that? Well let’s take a look at 2 of Lithuania’s better performing artists at Eurovision. Sasha from 2009 and Donny from 2012. Both singers had been in several National Finals in Lithuania with wonderful songs that could have performed better than the actual artist that the country did send. So I guess you have to earn your place at Eurovision through several attempts to get there.
So I think it only fitting that I show you both songs that topped the poll here in Dublin and Lithuania
Eurovision Ireland’s choice from the Semi Final was this sweet and charming song “I Fall In Love”

The Lithuanian Public’s choice from the Semi Final was this great 80’s Electro Pop song “The War In The Wardrobe”.
(I may have to concede that the Lithuanian Public could be on to something here on my second listening to the song). And doesn’t she look like the beautiful Adele?

So who goes into the final?
The jury results for this first semi final will be announced next Thursday – where a combination of the jury/public vote will make the decision of the qualifiers to the final. The second Lithuanian semi-final is on Saturday 15th of December at 20:00 CET. We will give you details of how to see the show on-line. One song I would say is in for contention from Semi Final 2 is from the Band DAR who came second in Lithuania last year and this time they are one of the favourites.
Here is DAR with the song “Jump”. A modern take on Abba? What do you think of it?
