LSM, the Latvian national broadcaster, have announced the winner of ‘Latvijas jaunais virtuozs’ – their national selection for the 2026 Eurovision Young Musicians, in Yerevan.

Sonja Misiņa took victory in ‘Latvijas jaunais virtuozs’, playing percussion. Upon her victory, Sonja had the following to say:

“This win was definitely the most emotionally stressful moment I’ve experienced in the contest so far. At the moment when I received this news, I could not believe it and understand, how it is that I really have to travel to Armenia to represent Latvia in Eurovision Young Musicians.

Until now, it was only a place in my imagination, not in real life. I was truly impressed by the trust of the jury and the belief that this is the path I have to take.

I feel very grateful for this opportunity to grow, learn, be inspired, accept challenges, experience such a unique event and share music.”
