
Here at Eurovision Ireland, we are taking a historical look back on our favourite Contests past and present, on the very day they took place. Today it’s February 6th:
Monday 6th February 1961
On this day in 1961, the 3rd edition of Melodifestivalen took place in Stockholm. Siw Malmkvist took victory with “April, april” and 78 points. At the 1961 Eurovision Song Contest in Cannes, Lill-Babs finished 14th, with 2 points.
