RÚV, the Icelandic national broadcaster, have confirmed their non-participation at the 2026 Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
Back in 2021, RÚV sent a delegation to observe the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, in Nice, in addition to broadcasting the Contest. In 2023, RÚV reported that they needed time and money to plan and develop their ideas before participating in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Eva Georgs Ásudóttir, Programming Director of RÚV, had the following to say:
“At the moment there are no plans to participate in Junior Eurovision.”
