LSM, the Latvian national broadcaster, have confirmed participation at the 2026 Eurovision Young Musicians, in Yerevan.
LSM have confirmed their return to the 2026 Eurovision Young Musicians, in Yerevan, for the first time since 2002. A national selection has launched, Latvijas jaunais virtuozs, to determine the Latvian representative in Yerevan. Two musicians from professional music education institutions in Riga, Cēsis, Daugavpils, Rēzekne, Ventspils, Jelgava, Jūrmala and Liepāja will through to the first phase of the selection. Auditions will take place before six finalists are chosen to take part in Latvijas jaunais virtuozs, on Sunday 15th February – broadcast live on LTV1 and LR3.
Ieva Rozentāle, Head of Culture Editorial Department of LSM, had the following to say:
“Our participation in the competition will raise the prestige of music professionals, and European viewers will get to know our young musicians more widely, as the competition is broadcast by public television in other countries as well. Latvia has previously been represented in the competition by well-known musicians – Lauma Skride, Baiba Skride, Liene Circene and others. Qualitative music education is of great importance in the development of young people, and this competition will strengthen understanding of its importance.”
