🌏 #ASIA: ABU No Longer Creating A Song Contest

The ABU, the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, has decided against converting the ABU Song Festival into a Song Contest.

The ABU first considered holding a Song Contest in 2019, in Qingdao, China. Following the Coronavirus pandemic in 2020, it was placed on hold again and has never taken place. The ABU Programme Bureau has now decided to keep the ABU Song Festival, rather than adapting it into the ABU Song Contest. While the ABU Radio Song Festival ended in 2019, the ABU TV Song Festival continued and was rebranded as the ABU Song Festival this year – enabling radio members to participate once again.
