🇩🇪 #ESC59: Alice & Ellen Kessler Have Died

Alice and Ellen Kessler, the German representatives of the 1959 Eurovision Song Contest, in Cannes, have died.

Twin sisters Alice and Ellen Kessler died yesterday, at the age of 89. Their career lasted from the 1940’s, through to the 1960’s and were known throughout Germany and Italy. They performed “Heute Abend wollen wir tanzen geh’n”, finishing in 8th place with 5 points. They died at the age of 89, with both sisters agreeing to end their lives, a wish they made public in recent years.

Everyone at Eurovision Ireland would like to send their condolences to Alice and Ellen’s friends and family.
