Vienna has officially submitted its bid to become host city, for the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest.
Vienna has submitted a bid to host the Eurovision Song Contest for the third time. Following Basel’s tagline of ‘Welcome Home’ in 2025, Vienna wants to use the tagline of ‘Europe, shall we dance?’ for 2026. Michael Ludwig, the Mayor of Vienna, had the following to say:
“As a cultural metropolis that is clearly committed to climate neutrality, we would like to make the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 a forward-looking event that inspires and takes responsibility in equal measure.
With today’s bid, we are making a clear commitment: We want to bring Eurovision to Vienna. We have proven very often in the past that Vienna is a cosmopolitan city that welcomes event visitors with open arms and offers them a wonderful stay.
After Eurovision 2015, there was a survey among all the reporters who were on site, in which Vienna achieved top scores. 79% of the experienced Eurovision reporters rated it as ‘better’ or ‘much better’ than the contests they had been to before.”
The following cities and towns have stated that they are examining or will bid to host the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest:
- Innsbruck
- St Pölten
- Vienna
