ERT, the Greek national broadcaster, are examining an expanded national selection format, ahead of the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest.
ERT is looking at holding an expanded national selection, ahead of the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest – the first multi-week format since 2004. A multi-week national selection process which would include semi-finals, would build up to a grand final.
The aim is to transform the Eurovision Song Contest into a multi-week brand for ERT and draw in high viewing figures. Participation is, according to reports, now profitable for the national broadcaster, with advertising revenues exceeding the costs of participation.
