
Here at Eurovision Ireland, we are taking a historical look back on our favourite Contests past and present, on the very day they took place. Today it’s March 14th:
Saturday 14th March 2015
On this day in 2015, the 55th edition of Melodifestivalen took place in Stockholm. Måns Zelmerlöw took victory with “Heroes” and 288 points. At the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Måns finished 1st, with 365 points.
Saturday 14th March 2009
On this day in 2009, the 49th edition of Melodifestivalen took place in Stockholm. Malena Ernman took victory with “La Voix” and 182 points. At the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow, Malena finished 21st, with 33 points.
Saturday 14th March 1998
On this day in 1998, the 38th edition of Melodifestivalen took place in Malmö. Jill Johnson took victory with “Kärleken är” and 62 points. At the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest in Birmingham, Jill finished 10th, with 53 points.
Saturday 14th March 1992
On this day in 1992, the 32nd edition of Melodifestivalen took place in Stockholm. Christer Björkman took victory with “I morgon är en annan dag” and 64 points. At the 1992 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Christer finished 22nd, with 9 points.
