SVT, the Swedish national broadcaster, have revealed the fourth inductee of the Melodifestivalen Hall of Fame, during Heat Five, on Saturday 1st March, in Jönköping.
The iconic medley performed at Melodifestivalen 2000 & was arranged by Hans Marklund (which you can watch below), is the latest inductee to the Melodifestivalen Hall of Fame. Before the winner in 2000 was announced, the presenters performed a fourteen-minute medley of previous Swedish Melodifestivalen entries. On stage were Elisabeth Andreassen, Lasse Berghagen, Carola, Lotta Engberg, Loa Falkman, Lasse Holm, Tommy Körberg, Lena Philipsson, Arja Saijonmaa and Björn Skifs. Hans Marklund had the following to say:
“I feel proud to have created a number that became a real “talkie” and that made everyone so incredibly happy. I still get emails and messages from people who think it’s the best interlude ever, and many who celebrate by playing the potpourri and singing along. Being inducted into the Melodifestivalen Hall of Fame feels great now 25 years later. I think the number will still be entertaining and will always be difficult to top. It almost feels like I’ve won the entire Melodifestivalen, I’m so happy and proud.”
