#IRELAND: Live blog of Eurosong 2025 from 22.35CET

Seven-time winners of the Eurovision Song Contest Ireland hold their selection show tonight. In the Late Late Show slot on RTÉ1, six acts will vie for that golden ticket to Basel in May. Patrick Kielty will host, and members of OGAE Ireland will be in the studio audience. But can RTÉ pick an eighth winner?

Our blog will relay the action, and you can watch it HERE. All times below are GMT.

23.28 – So Emmy will go to Basel. What do you think? The right winner? Please tell us. And it’s goodnight from Eurovision Ireland

23.27 – It’s Emmy! Congratulations to her.

23.26 – 8 points to Bobbi Arlo (20). 10 to Niyl (18). 12 to Emmy (34)

23.25 – 2 points to Reylta (18). 4 points to Samantha Mumba (26). 6 to Adgy (10)

23.24 – It’s all down to the public!

23.24 – 8 points to Reylta (16). 10 points to Samantha Mumba (22). 12 to Emmy (22)

23.24 – 2 points to Adgy (4). 4 points to Niyl (8). 6 points to Bobbi Arlo (12)

23.23 – National jury time.

23.22 – 2 points to Adgy. 4 to Niyl. 6 to Bobbi Arlo. 8 to Reylta. 10 to Emmy. 12 to Samantha Mumba!

23.20 – International jury votes first.

23.18 – Bambie likes Niyl, Bobbi and Emmy.

23.16 – Final thoughts. Emmy maybe. Or Bobbi Arlo. Emmy maybe. Or Niyl.

23.15 – We’re back. The scores are ready!

23.10 – Another ad break. Stay tuned

23.09 – Tonight’s gifts for the audience come from Bellamianta. Self-tanning kits worth €130 for everyone there.

23.08 – The lines are now closed

23.06 – Any Irish song could still do the business. And the best song still wins.

23.05 – It’s the first time they’ve performed as a trio. Linda remembers Malmö as a beautiful city. Niamh thought the whole or Ireland won in Millstreet. She still has the 1993 outfit. Eimear remembers being under pressure not to win.

23.01 – Niamh, Linda and Eimear are popular in the house.

22.58 – Something special now. To celebrate 60 years, it’s Linda singing Tattoo. Joined by Eimear and then Niamh

22.55 – We’re back. Juries are deliberating.

22.50 – Time for another break. But Linda, Niamh and Eimear coming soon.

22.49 – Obviously it’s recap time.

22.47 – The lines for the public are now open! If you can, vote, vote, vote!

22.46 – It’s the performance of the night.

22.45 – Straight out of the box, says the panel. It’s better than We will rave (AT24)

22.43 – Emmy and her pals are in silver. It immediately kicks off. It’s another song for a Eurovision disco. It builds nicely with dancers that help it along. And Emmy’s brother playing keyboards. There’s a lot of good about this, and is nailed.

22.39 – Song 6 comes from Emmy. It’s Laika party

22.38 – Bambie would lose the dancers with more focus on Niyl.

22.37 – The panel thinks it’s phenomenal with great vocals. But maybe a bit too busy. And it kicks off from the start

22.36 – Niyl has dancers and backing singers on stage with him. He has an eye-catching look, see our interview with him for an idea. The song has a big chorus with some nice long notes. It bounces along well and the backing singers compliemnt it well. It has elements of something Go_A would sing or chant maybe. But it maybe need a bit more meat on the bones and relies a lot on the dancers throwing themselves around the stage.

22.31 – Song five is Growth from Niyl

22.30 – A quick recap of the competition mentioned earlier. They will ring someone tonight.

22.29 – Bambie thinks a revamp would boost it.

22.28 – The panel love Samantha. It’s an honour to have her there. The song maybe does take a little too long to get going.

22.27 – This starts as a ballad. Samantha is sat at a table replete with candles. Her dancers then move it away. She then sits at a chair and tells she’s doing things her way. Then it picks up and a violinist appears. The song has power and eventually gives rise to some proper Irish dancing. However, it might just take a little too long to really grab you. But not bad all the same. And she has fans.

22.23 – Song 4 is from Samantha Mumba. You may have heard of her. She sings My way

22.22 – Reylta’s vocal was amazing and wants to do it 10 more times. The west of Ireland influences her song writing.

22.21 – Bobbi is popular. The inspiration was – well, she can’t think – a break up and being about her.

22.20 – We speak to Adgy. He felt the energy leading up to the performance.

22.19 – We’re back. Some familiar fans are there in the crowd.

22.14 – Break time. Don’t go away.

22.13 – The Late Late Show is offering two tickets to the Grand final, along with €10,000 to spend. You just need to answer a question. Perchance the answer is in the studio.

22.11 – Emmy is excited and is a big Eurovision fan. Her song is about the dog in space Laika. She parties instead of dying.

22.10 – Niyl has an interesting look, and he’s looking forward to performing later.

22.09 – Over to the Green Room – well, some nice circular tables near the stage. Samantha feels she’s now in the right headspace to take part. Thanks to Bambie.

22.08 – Bambie likes the theatrical elements but thinks it might not stand out as much as some of the others tonight.

22.06 – This has a tree on stage! Reylta sings in front of it. Her voice is very ethereal and builds from a slow start. She is dressed in Celtic motifs, and has two dancers with her, along with two instrumentalists (violin and bodhrán) with wicker hats. I loved the audio of this, and I think it needs a bit more power. It moves along nicely and is almost a chant. Not a disco song, but definitely a classy one.

22.02 – Song three comes from Reylta. She sings Fire

22.00 – The panel are loving Bobbi. Bambie thinks Bobbi could do good things.

21.58 – This has a banging beat. And a sword on stage. And two dancers. It’s very serious and she almost smoulders. That kicking beat for the chorus is very good. Bobbi herself has a very distinctive look. As individual as Bambie with black leather and plenty of piercings. A very good song for a Eurovision disco too. Nice work. And no-one cut themselves.

21.54 – Song 2 is Bobbi Arlo singing Powerplay

21.53 – Back to Bambie. She felt very warm listening to Adgy’s song. And good vocals in the studio

21.50 – Donal Skehan could have been a contender, he tells us. But for that turkey. We see his 2008 Eurosong performance.

21.49 – Bambie tells us she’s only nervous after a performance, never before.

21.48 – Adgy and his sister start at instruments. Her a violin and him a piano. He then leaves the piano to sing straight to camera. He’s in white. The song has a really ethereal sound, and the violin motif really sets it off. They both cavort around the stage and that’s all this needs. A great opener.

21.44 – Straight into Song 1. Adgy sings Run into the night

21.43 – In the studio, to give opinion, is the one and only Bambie Thug! Looking as individual as ever.

21.41 – We have international jurors from San Marino, Australia, Switzerland and Serbia.

21.40 – There are two – yes two – juries, each contributing one third of the vote. The other third comes from the public vote

21.39 – Ireland celebrates 60 years in Eurovision this time round.

21.37 – Clearly not, but there are six acts – and maybe more – who will.

21.36 – And we’re off. Will Patrick Kielty be singing?
