SVT, the Swedish national broadcaster, have revealed the stage design for Melodifestivalen 2025 – their national selection for the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest, in Basel.
This year, recycling and sustainability is the focus when it comes to the 2025 Melodifestivalen stage. Recycling is this year’s watchword, but some new features will still be included in this year’s stage design. Just like last year, large parts of the scenography are made up of LED surfaces, and completely new video content has been developed to fill the walls and floors, thereby creating a completely new feeling. The two angled LED walls with integrated fixtures and the 72 square meter LED floor offer opportunities to create unique acts and a spectacular experience for both audience and viewers. Also new this year is that the walkway on the parquet floor, which is used for the “winners’ walk” and as a playing area for the programme hosts, will be expanded and become a natural place in the middle of the sea of audience.
Viktor Brattström, the Melodifestivalen 2025 Set Designer, had the following to say:
“The observant will recognise this year’s stage because it is structured like last year. However, we will create a new look in terms of video material and lighting that will breathe 2025 and give viewers a new experience.”
Fredrik Stormby, the Melodifestivalen 2025 Lighting & Video Designer, had the following to say:
“Together with SVT’s producers, we have developed a design for this year that is graphic, playful, colourful and soft in shape, in contrast to 2024’s clean and powder pink design. The graphics and lighting interact to give this year’s version of the stage a new, young and energetic costume.”
Christel Tholse Willers, the Melodifestivalen 2025 Executive Producer, had the following to say:
“This year’s design fits this year’s presenter perfectly – it feels modern, lovely and with lots of energy.”
