
The ABU, the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, have started discussions on expanding the ABU TV Song Festival.
During the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union General Assembly, which is underway in Istanbul, a discussion is taking place to see if their Radio Members could start to participate with the ABU TV Song Festival – something that happened during the virtual event of 2020. An approval of the inclusion of Radio Members have yet to be approved.
The ABU Radio Song Festival ran independently between 2012 & 2019. Twenty eight countries participated, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Fiji, Myanmar, Pakistan, Romania & Sudan – who have yet to appear in the ABU TV Song Festival.
