Today, the 2024 Summer Olympics commenced (although the Opening Ceremony takes place on Friday) and we have added a Eurovision twist to the proceedings. We will be celebrating the best of Eurovision participating countries, ranked by their gold medal success at the Summer Olympics, up to and including Tokyo 2020.

The United Kingdom (known as Great Britain & Northern Ireland at the Olympics) rank 3rd overall – behind the USA and the Soviet Union. 284 gold medals have been achieved to date. At Eurovision, the United Kingdom’s best placing is 1st, on five occasions.
