
Over the course of October and November, on the lead up to the 2022 Junior Eurovision Song Contest, we will be celebrating the previous editions of the Contest. Today, we celebrate Bucharest 2006.
On Saturday 2nd November 2006, the 4th Junior Eurovision Song Contest took place at the Sala Polivalentă, in Bucharest, Romania. The show was hosted by Andreea Marin Bănică and Ioana Ivan. The Interval Act was provided by Ksenia Sitnik and Romanian Dancers.
Three countries debuted in Bucharest – Portugal, Serbia and Ukraine, while Cyprus returned. They joined Belarus, Belgium, Croatia, Greece, Malta, North Macedonia (then known as FYR Macedonia), Romania, Russia, Spain, Sweden and The Netherlands. Denmark, Latvia, Norway, Serbia & Montenegro and the United Kingdom didn’t return for the 2006 edition.
1st Place: Russia – Tolmachevy Twins, “Vesenniy Jazz”
2nd Place: Belarus – Andrey Kunets, “Noviy den”
3rd Place: Sweden – Molly Sandén, “Det finaste någon kan få”
