
Over the course of April and May, on the lead up to the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest, we will be celebrating the countries that are participating this year in Rotterdam. Today, we celebrate Australia.
Australia debuted at the Contest in 2015, in Vienna, Australia, Guy Sebastian finished in fifth place with his entry “Tonight Again”, scoring 196 points. This included two sets of twelve points from Austria and Sweden.
The most successful entry from Australia was in 2016, when the Contest took place in Stockholm, Sweden, Dami Im finished in second place with her entry “Sound of Silence”, scoring 511 points. This included nine sets of jury twelve points from Albania, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Hungary, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland. This also included three sets of televote twelve points from Albania, Malta and Sweden.
The most recent Australian entry was due to be in 2020, when the cancelled Contest was due to take place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Montaigne was due to represent Australia with her entry “Don’t Break Me”.
This year, Australia will be represented by Montaigne with her song “Technicolour”. Will Montaigne take Australia to their first victory?
