
Every year, March 8th celebrates International Women’s Day. This year at Eurovision Ireland, we are looking at some of the successful female Irish acts at the Eurovision Song Contest.
1970 – Dana
Dana was the first Irish winner and first Irish female winner at the Eurovision Song Contest. Dana won the Contest when it was held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and received a total of 32 points.
1992 – Linda Martin
Linda Martin was the second female Irish winner at the Eurovision Song Contest. Linda won the Contest when it was held in Malmo, Sweden and received a total of 155 points.
1993 – Niamh Kavanagh
Niamh Kavanagh was the third female Irish winner at the Eurovision Song Contest. Niamh won the Contest when it was held in Millstreet, Ireland and received a total of 187 points.
1996 – Eimear Quinn
Eimear Quinn was the fourth female Irish winner at the Eurovision Song Contest. Eimear won the Contest when it was held in Oslo, Norway and received a total of 162 points.
2021 – Lesley Roy
Could Lesley Roy become the fifth female Irish winner at the Eurovision Song Contest? Lesley will be taking part in the Contest, where it will be held in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
