#BIRTHDAY: Jakob Sveistrup from Denmark is 49 today

We all love our Eurovision stars for their music, but many have other strings to their bow. That is, outside of the music industry. They’ve come from many different backgrounds, from dentists to politicians.

Today’s birthday boy Jakob Sveistrup was once a teacher – an admirable profession. Singing was a hobby that eventually took over his life. In 2005 he saw himself travelling to Kyiv to hopefully get through the single semi-final. He did, and probably celebrated with very inexpensive alcohol. As did everyone who went to Kyiv. Onto the big Saturday night show and managed an equal ninth spot with a country with a similar flag. It must have been that killer opening line.
