BIRTHDAY: Kølig Kaj from Denmark is 48 today
Do you have a favourite style of music? Is it Schlager? Or something less predictable? If you’re into rap, then today’s song will be for you.
Some countries experiment with this form of music from time to time. Either as a complete song, or during the middle-eight. Today’s birthday boy Kølig Kaj (né Thomas Lægaard Sørensen) brought the Danish version to our ears in 1997, with a song about falling in love with someone on the phone. I guess the idea of phoning someone to get another telephone number is a bit outdated now, but 118 – to quote Kølig – was the number in the 1990s. He scored the handsome sum of 25 points. Not much, but that was from six countries: three out of five televoting and three out of 19 using juries. Maybe it proved that the viewers liked his song more than the juries.
