#SMR: Ten Years Of San Marino – Part 1/3

This year, San Marino will be entering the Eurovision Song Contest for the tenth time. Here at Eurovision Ireland, we are going to have a look at their brief history in the Contest.

In 2008, San Marino debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest, along with Azerbaijan. Miodio represented the nation in their debut year, with their song “Complice”. Sadly, the nation’s debut didn’t go to plan and finished last in the first semi final, with just 5 points.

San Marino’s second year in the Contest wasn’t until 2011 after withdrawing before the 2009 Contest. Senit represented the nation with her entry “Stand By”. Senit finished 16th in the first semi final, with 34 points.

The third year at the Contest saw the start of three consecutive attempts to win by Valentina Monetta. Valentina’s first attempt in 2012 was with “The Social Network Song. Valentina finished 14th in the first semi final, with 31 points.
