30th April – 30 Years Ago Today
On this day in 1988, the 33rd Eurovision Song Contest took place in the RDS Simmonscourt Pavillon, Dublin. Celine Dion took part for Switzerland, becoming only the second entry to win for her country. Celine Dion finished with a 1 point margin over her nearest competitor, Scott Fitzgerald from the United Kingdom.

30th April – 24 Years Ago Today
On this day in 1994, the 39th Eurovision Song Contest took place in the Point Theatre, Dublin. While the Eurovision Song Contest witnessed another Irish win, it was Riverdance, the Interval Act that this particular contest is best remembered for.

And on this day eight years ago, 1994 co-presenter Gerry Ryan passed away suddenly at his home in Dublin.
