#ICELAND: Svala wins the Söngvakeppnin ticket to Kyiv

Icelandic national final Söngvakeppnin has just finished, and Svala will be going to Kyiv in May with the song ‘Paper’.
Svala Björnvinsdóttir beat Daði Freyr Perúrsson in the superfinal, after they won a combined jury and televote.

Iceland has yet to win the Eurovision Song Contest. Their best results were second places in 1999 (Selma with ‘All out of luck) and 2009 (Yohanna with ‘Is it true?’).
