GEORGIA : Our thoughts on how Nina Sublati should stage her Eurovision entry ‘Warrior’

So here are some more first thoughts on ‘How Should They Stage their song at Eurovision 2015’?

Well the last few years have not produced the best results for one of our favourite Eurovision countries here at Eurovision Ireland. Last year Georgia failed to make it through to the Final, coming 15th in their semi final. In 2013 the fabulous Nodi and Sophie were favourites to do well but ended up qualifying for the final with 10th place in their semi-final and finishing in 15th place overall.

Georgia’s entry for Vienna 2015 could be their best yet and as ever, the staging could be all important. ‘Warrior’ was written by Nina and it typifies the strong independent woman that she is. We feel that it will be important that the staging portrays the strong powerful feel of the song. As it was in the national final, a dark brooding stage will suit this song with flashes of red and black. Nina performed solo in the national final but this song lends itself to some backing dancers. I am imagining a black leather clad, ethnic look to Nina and think that dancers in similar outfits would work well.

There is a short 15 second instrumental section where strobe lighting could work well with a kick ass dance routine going on in the background. The official video for warrior features different women with swords, shields and warrior face paint – this look would work well with dancers on stage. You can see this video here

We really believe that ‘Warrior’ could give Georgia their best results in years. It is an uptempo number (a rare breed this year) and Nina is a fabulous performer.
