So Serbia’s first attempt at Eurovision since their shock failure to qualify in Malmo 2013 is an upbeat pop number! Quite a catchy chorus, this song gets better as it goes along. Aleksa’s pitch was not great at points during the performance and the choice to dress in a suit seemed strange when put with the dance routine – it was very restrictive for him. I’d say this was an adequate attempt but cannot see it winning the ticket to Vienna! Aleksa may well end up saying Take Me To………….. the pub to drown my sorrows :-(

A dreamy power ballad from Danica was up next. This definitely had the “Molitva” feel and dramatically built as she went on. I liked the start of the song. It was beautiful and understated but felt that it became very over the top and shouty by the end. Her riffs and runs seemed unnecessary and I preferred the simple feel to the beginning of the song. There is definite potential with this song but they need to tone it down and unfancify it!!! I think Danica can save her Tears For The End Of ……….. the show when she wins the ticket to Vienna :-)

Woohoo the light up dress gimmick is back – this time in the Serbian final but oh dear it didn’t work. When Moldova used this technique in Malmo 2013 it was to enhance the atmosphere of a stunning ballad. Bojana was singing an up beat dance song and the lighting just didn’t work. She has a good set of lungs on her and gave an extremely powerful performance and enhanced it with a “bucks fizz style” clothing reveal but it didn’t do it for me. After hearing the 3 songs I think that The Whole World Is My………… runner up :-(

Elaine’s Predictions

Winner – Danica Krstic – Tears for the end of

Runner Up – Bojana Stamenov – The whole world is my

3rd – Aleksa Jelic – Take me to

Actual Results

Winner –  Bojana Stamenov – The whole world is my

Runner Up – Danica Krstic – Tears for the end of

3rd – Aleksa Jelic – Take me to

Bojana and her “bodice ripping” performance wins the ticket to Vienna!!! This already looks like it gonna be a Euro Club floor filler with “something for everyone” to look at – The Euroboys are making up their dance routines as we speak.
