Garrett’s Comments

Linus may have lots of tattoos and a shaved head but with a glimpse of his smile he is a big teddy bear. It is always coming back a second year in a row when you had such an iconic song like ‘Broder’ but Linus knocked it out of the park – Literally! He was channelling Romania ESC 2015 and Waldo’s people with the banging oil drums! I didn’t think this would work but this is an anthem to beat the drum to. This is a song that you can do your Zumba class to or sing to a packed out stadium. An anthem for sure and it has to go ‘Direct to the Final’ or I will beat a drum in protest!

Garrett’s Comments

This is what happens when you live in a country that is plunged into darkness for most of the winter! This is a song that those Scandinavian Film Noir tv series are famous for. Think Borgen and The Missing and you have this. Haunting and Dramatic but totally forgettable. Not even the hundred of tea lights across the stage could shed some light on this dark song!

These guys are HUGEEEEE in Sweden. They have had massive hits in the charts and are known for their comedy element to their performances. Ohhhh – That was somewhat – how will i put it – Desperate! With 2 million people on stage with them their vocals were not worthy of being a groupie! They then brought on my pet peev – THE SELFIE STICK! I wanted to slap them with it as opposed to taking a picture with it! That has thrown the whole contest open! That was neither Eric Bananan or Eric Saade – it was just ‘Baade’

The positives – it comes after Viktor and Samir. They look like the rejected singers from McBusted. The song seemed to be stuck in second gear for the entire 3 minutes of the song. Let’s just say that their neighbours in Denmark would walk all over them at Eurovision if they were to get to Vienna. What is up tonight Melodifestivalen. I’m not a happy bunny!

This is walking over their younger competition. You go Girls! A wonderful lamentable country song that shows the young pretenders who rules this Melodifestivalen stage in Malmo. Definite Top 4. Think the Etheridge family in America and you have this. Pure class! Will it get the public vote – it didn’t send the Malmo audience into hysteria!

probably the only singer that has tried to get to Eurovision more times than Sanna Nielson in Sweden! He has brought a Schlager song and it was badly needed tonight to boost this semi final. This is going to be in the Top 4 for sure. A dodgy suit still did not deter me from liking this!

Mariette – Don’t stop believing

If you were looking for the Journey/Glee version of ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ then you are deeply mistaken yet not disappointed! The real surprise of the night! What they have done is to recreate the Madonna ‘Frozen’ video live on stage to a rousing dramatic ballad. Now that is the type of song that Melodifestivalen almost send to Eurovision. This is cracking ballad and one that would sit well at Eurovision! This has to be in the Top 4
