RTP (Portuguese National Broadcaster) are ‘Mantê-lo na família’ as they say in Portugal.
Once again Portugal will use the Festival da Canção for their Eurovision selection.
This year the broadcasters have made some changes to the selection criteria. Composers again have been invited to participate in the festival.
Firstly all the composers who enter must be Portuguese and secondly there will be 10 songs in the selection as opposed to 12 in previous years.
The last time Portugal qualified for the Grand Final at Eurovision was in 2010 when Filipa Azevedo came 18th with the song “Há dias assim” that was composed by Augusto Madureira – a Portuguese Journalist and Songwriter.
Will this be the year we see Portugal gain their long overdue win at Eurovision?
