RAI (Italian National Broadcaster) has announced in the last hour that they will offer the winner of the Sanremo Music festival the choice if they want to represent Italy at Eurovision 2015. In the last few minuets they have added the following proviso on their Facebook Page stating
So the winner of the Sanremo Music Festival will have the decision if they want to participate at Eurovision 2015 in Vienna. If they decide not to then RAI will reserve the right to make alternative plans for Vienna 2015.
Since Italy’s return to Eurovision in 2011 they have used contestants from the Sanremo festival on 3 occasions, 2011/2012 and 2013. Last year they internally selected Emma Marrone to represent Italy at Eurovision. This was the first time since their return to Eurovision that they failed to make the Top 10.
So do you think that the winner of the Sanremo Music Festival will want to enter Eurovision 2015?
