Would the time come? It seems as if all the neighbours had opened their selection process for Eurovision 2015. No it is good to be different and break away from the norm or so I was told as a schoolboy!
One of the most westerly counties of Europe has finally opened their selection process for Eurovision 2015. RÚV (Icelandic National Broadcaster) are currently accepting song submissions for Söngvakeppnin 2015.
Like their Scandi neighbours all entries must be submitted on-line. You can do so HERE,
Like their Swedish counterparts, Iceland are making the stipulation that 50% of the entries must contain a female member.
Songwriters must be Icelandic or residents in the country since September 1st 2014. Solo songwriters can enter a maximum of 2 songs but more if they are part of a song writing team.
The songs must be submitted in Icelandic yet in the final of Söngvakeppnin 2015 and at Eurovision 2015 it can be performed in any language desired.
Submission period is from September 26th to October 20th 2014 when the website will stop accepting entries at 11:59 (local time).
The songs will be judged by a panel and Söngvakeppnin 2015 is scheduled for February.
Iceland’s bets placing at Eurovision has been second which they have achieved twice – 1999 and 2009.
