Twice Eurovision representative Darja Švajger has won a top accolade at the 39th Festival of Slovenia – ‘Slovenska Popevka’. The annual festival is one of the top musical festivals in the Balkan region and is likened to Italy’s Sanremo Music Festival.
Saturday night saw the contest take place where 14 acts took to the stage and the winner for best song/performance was Rudi Bučar as awarded by the Jury
However there was also the Audience Award for their favourite song/performance and that went to Eurovision’s very own Darja Švajger for her song ‘Soncen Dan’. You may remember that she competed at Eurovision in 1995 with the song ‘Prisluhni mi’ which came 7th (Slovenia’s joint best result at the contest) and then again in 1999 with the song ‘For a Thousand Years’ that placed 11th.
Congratulations Darja
