Here is a photo gallery of “Eurovision Island” aka the venue for Eurovision 2014. Yes Copenhagen will host Eurovision for the 3rd time in the contest’s history. B&W Hallerne at Refshaleøen is set for a multi million Euro make-over to transform this post industrial wasteland in Copenhagen, to the epicenter of Europe and beyond in May 2014. Epicenter or Ground Zero – time will tell, but we have faith in our Danish Viking cousins
We thought it would be good to create a time frame of progression in the creation of “Eurovision Island”. We will show you the before, during and after the construction. Brace yourself for the challenge that awaits DR as they strive to modernize the contest and the live shows.
- Eurovision Island – From the Air showing the site in the Copenhagen Harbour
Not too bad. You can see the Wind Turbines turning and supplying some of the power to generate Eurovision 2014. “Green is Good” – well we would say that being Irish!
- Closer Ariel View of Eurovision Island.
Still looking promising. We have what looks like a Zeppelin Hanger. Weren’t they somewhat flammable? Still looking promising
- First glimpse of “Eurovision Island” from the ground
Ok – close up’s of “Eurovision Island”. Not so shiny and somewhat industrial. But who doesn’t have a tall chimney stack overlooking proceedings at Eurovision. We are hoping this is still “Green Energy”. Perfect site for Eurovision Bungee Jumping – a Eurovision First!
- Eurovision Island at Night
Things always look better at night – before the harsh reality of daylight. That is our excuse and we are sticking to it! Eurovision Island has some atmosphere.
- Eurovision Island – Yes there is someone at home!
So at least we know that there is electricity at the venue and someone knows how to kick-start the hall into action. Promising!
- Eurovision Island – Goes Danish Thriller Movie on us.
We now get into the realms of the Danish tv thriller series “The Killing”. Not somewhere that you would like to be on your own on a dark night!
- Eurovision Island – The scene of the Danish Version of “The Full Monty”
Despite being somewhat sinister at night, during the day it has people queuing – probably for auditions for the Danish version of “The Full Monty”. I can hear “Hot Stuff” playing in the back of my mind.
- Eurovision Island – has an indoor swimming pool
All is not lost. With an internal swimming pool there is a chance for some luxury at Eurovision Island.
So there you have the “Before Eurovision 2014 Make-Over at Eurovision Island. Stay tuned for the pictures of the ongoing work that will be taking place for the next 8 months!
