Eurovision Ireland has tonight heard the sad news that Marinella, who represented Greece in their very first participation in Eurovision in 1974, has passed away at the age of 87 . Marinella performed at the contest in Brighton with the song “Krasi Thalassa ke t’agori mou”. She came 11th . Marinella was one of Greece’s most loved singers and up until as recently as 2024, was still performing until ill health caused her to have to pull out of scheduled performances. She passed away today in Athens aged 87.
