The search for the next German representative reached its thrilling climax tonight! Live from Studio Berlin Adlershof, Germany made its final decision on who will carry the national flag to Vienna for the 70th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest this May.
It was a night of high production and even higher stakes. Barbara Schöneberger and Hazel Brugger steered the ship with their signature blend of glamour and sharp wit, guiding the audience through a diverse lineup of nine acts that showcased the current breadth of the German music scene.
The Nine Contenders
The competition was fierce, featuring a mix of established stars and rising indie talent. These were the nine acts that took to the stage for Das deutsche Finale 2026:
- BELA – “Herz”
- Dreamboys The Band – “Jeanie”
- Laura Nahr – “Wonderland”
- Malou Lovis – “When I’m With You”
- Molly Sue – “Optimist (Ha Ha Ha)”
- MYLE – “A OK”
- Ragazzki – “Ciao Ragazzki”
- Sarah Engels – “Fire”
- wavvyboi – “Black Glitter”
A Night of Two Halves
The tension was palpable as the show moved through its unique two-phase voting system.
First, an International Jury—composed of 20 experts including past Eurovision stars like Ruslana and Luca Hänni—evaluated the initial performances. Their scores were combined to narrow the field down to a Top 3 Superfinal.
Once the finalists were announced, the power shifted entirely to the viewers at home. The German public took over the reins, with the televote alone determining which of the three remaining acts would earn the ticket to Austria.
While the votes were being verified, the audience was treated to guest performances by the iconic Paola and last year’s representatives, Abor & Tynna, who performed their 2025 entry “Baller”.
The Result
After a dramatic countdown and a tense reveal of the televoting bars, the wait was finally over. We can now officially confirm that the act representing Germany in Vienna is…
Sarah Engels with her song Fire!
Germany has spoken, and the path to Vienna is now set. Will this be the entry to bring the Eurovision trophy back to German soil for the first time in sixteen years? The journey starts now.
Congratulations to our winner!
