LSM, the Latvian national broadcaster, have announced the finalists for ‘Latvijas jaunais virtuozs’ – their national selection for the 2026 Eurovision Young Musicians, in Yerevan.
Ieva Rozentāle, the Cultural Editor for LTV, had the following to say:
“We have met 16 excellent young musicians, instrumentalists, among whom are representatives of stringed instruments and wind instruments, three accordionists, four percussionists, along with only two pianists and one guitarist. All the young people are very musical, the performances were at a high technical level and the performance of the young people was very convincing. This first selection really inspires us, the competition jury and will certainly inspire the competition television viewers as well. We have laid a good foundation for future work and hope that the broadcast of the competition will encourage young people to apply even more actively and study at music schools.”
Six finalists have been chosen to participate in ‘Latvijas jaunais virtuozs’, on Sunday 15th February – they are:
- Antons Pizāns – Accordion
- Jeļena Jasjuļaņeca – Accordion
- Kristiāns Gorbatko – Cello
- Oskars Tamans – Percussionist
- Pauls Stradiņš – Percussionist
- Sonja Misiņa – Percussionist
