S4C, the Welsh national broadcaster, have confirmed non-participation, at the 2026 Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
S4C have confirmed to ESCspot that they will not be participating at the 2026 Junior Eurovision Song Contest – without any further reasoning. AHEAD of the 2024 Contest, Manw, the 2018 Welsh representative, had the following to say:
“I feel like Wales has lost an opportunity to showcase the Welsh language and young talent on a global, modern level by not having representation this year. It’s sad that we’ve only competed twice before Covid hit and disrupted the momentum.
Being part of a huge international event was a great honour and of course I was breaking new ground as I was the first ever representative of Wales. I will never forget waving the red dragon flag proudly on the Eurovision stage and being an ambassador to present Wales and the Welsh language to the world.”
